pavlova cake

The pavlova cake it's a dessert originating in Oceania, specifically from Australia or New Zealand, although both countries claim its invention. This cake is a very popular dessert in both countries and is consumed all year round, but it is especially common at special events and celebrations.

The pavlova pie was created in the 1920s in honor of the Russian ballerina Anna Pavlova, who visited both Australia and New Zealand on a world tour. The dessert is said to have been created by an Australian or New Zealand chef who wanted to honor the dancer's grace and elegance. Since then, the pavlova cake has become an iconic dessert in both countries.

For its preparation, beaten egg whites and sugar are used, which are baked at a low temperature to form a crispy base on the outside and soft on the inside. A small amount of vinegar and cornstarch is also added.

The pavlova cake is usually decorated with whipped cream and fresh fruit, usually strawberries, although there are recipes that use kiwi or mango.
